I am an Assistant Professor in the Interdisciplinary Program in Information Architecture and Knowledge Management at Kent State University.

My research interest is in the area of User Experience, specifically information architecture and usability. I am interested in problems of navigation, labeling (vocabulary), aesthetics, , and searching.

Currently, my research focuses on two areas:

  1. The credibility of information presented on web sites and how users' perception of credibility is shaped by aesthetics, quality of labeling, navigation and searching.
  2. Web Standards and their impact on design, accessibility and rich internet applications such as AJAX.

I teach courses in information design, information architecture, usability and content management systems. I have an undergraduate degree from Colorado State University (Bachelor of Fine Arts), a Master of Science (Library Science) from the University of North Texas, and a Ph.D. in Information Science from the University of North Texas.
